Weekly Wednesday Update - 10/4/2023

This has been a bit of a transition week. While we haven't had any new close calls regarding donors some things are still changing. This week I began a medical leave from work, and it has been challenging for me. That probably seems really strange. I want to be working, and like I said before I really like and enjoy the people that I work with, but my physical and mental state is so unreliably up and down that I need to step away.

This week Kelly started our search for second opinions by reaching out to Memorial Sloan Kettering. Not because we don't trust our team at Michigan, but because we need to exhaust every option. This is too important for us to sit on our hands and just assume that we have all the right answers. And while I don't think this second opinion will mean much, it can't hurt to get confirmation that we are doing all the right things.

While we wait for the phone to ring again we are in the throws of everyone in the house getting sick. Moira had an ear infection last week, and Caroline is just getting out from under the weather. Thankfully I have avoided their sicknesses despite constantly wiping Moira's nose or coming into contact with kid hands every moment of the day. (Don't tell them they're both getting flu shots on Saturday!)

This weekend brings in my birthday on Monday, the second since my diagnosis. I'm not a big birthday person, but Caroline is excited and has been hiding secret plans from me all week. I however get to celebrate my birthday with a CT scan on Monday, so look forward to those results next update.

This is Kelly this week writing the update, but there isn't much. Andrew was discharged from the hospital on 12/5 and has been recovering...
